FAQ
Do you clean curtains as well?

Yes, we also take care of your curtains. We wash or dry-clean them according to the care label, press and iron them, and return them hanging on a hanger. Please note that a liability waiver is always required for curtain cleaning.

How do you clean curtains?

We always clean or wash curtains according to the instructions on the care label.
We offer dry cleaning, wet cleaning, and standard washing.
Depending on the material, construction, and degree of soiling, we select the gentlest and most appropriate method. The curtains are then pressed and ironed and delivered hanging on a hanger.

Can curtains shrink or change shape when washed/cleaned?

Yes, that is possible and even very likely. Many curtains can shrink during washing or cleaning, causing them to become shorter.

Due to changes in humidity, fabrics can shrink during use, washing, drying, and dry cleaning. Furthermore, curtains are often stretched and secured during manufacturing for display purposes, which leads to shrinkage when washed or cleaned. Depending on the composition and nature of the fabric, the amount of shrinkage can vary. The following non-binding guidelines apply to expected shrinkage:
– Synthetics 1–2%
– Silk 1–3%
– Cotton 1–4%
– Viscose 3–5%
– Linen 5–7%

Changes in texture or color cannot be completely ruled out due to the material and age of the fabric.

How much do curtains shrink during treatment?

Due to changes in humidity, fabrics may shrink during use, washing, drying, and dry cleaning. Additionally, curtains are often pulled taut and secured during manufacturing for display purposes, which can cause them to shrink when washed or dry cleaned. Shrinkage can vary depending on the composition and texture of the fabric. The following non-binding guidelines apply to expected shrinkage:
– Synthetics 1–2%
– Silk 1–3%
– Cotton 1–4%
– Viscose 3–5%
– Linen 5–7%

Why do I need to sign a liability waiver for curtains?

Curtains are often delicate and may already be damaged by light, dust, or aging. Additionally, curtains are washed during manufacturing and are often stretched and secured afterward to ensure they look perfect on the sales floor. Cleaning carries certain risks, such as shrinkage, changes in the fabric, or the emergence of previously invisible damage and stains. Furthermore, sliders or hooks may come loose or even damage the fabric. Since we have no control over these factors, we require a signed disclaimer before proceeding with the treatment.

How long does it take to clean curtains?

The minimum processing time is 48 hours from pickup to delivery. However, depending on the size, quantity, and the resulting workload, the processing time may be longer.

Can I send in individual curtains, or should I always have all the curtains cleaned together?

Curtains should always be cleaned as a complete set. Individual cleaned curtains may look different from those that haven’t been cleaned (e.g., in color, length, or texture), resulting in an inconsistent overall appearance.

How should I prepare my curtains for cleaning?

Curtains should be treated as a complete set. If you have already taken them down, we recommend removing the gliders and hooks whenever possible, as these may fall off during treatment or damage the fabric.
If you need help taking them down and hanging them back up, we’re happy to assist you. This service is billed separately at CHF 120 per person per hour.
If multiple people are required, travel time will also be charged for each additional person.

After the treatment, my curtains have stains that weren't visible before. Why is that?

Unfortunately, this can happen, and it’s not due to the treatment. Stains or discoloration may sometimes be “masked” by dust, buildup, nicotine, or general grime. After cleaning, such pre-existing damage may become visible.

My curtains have stains. Can they be removed?

We treat curtains with the utmost care; however, stains or damage to the fabric, especially those caused by UV rays, sunlight, or environmental factors, cannot always be completely removed. After cleaning, certain stains and discoloration may even be more visible than before, as the fabric has been freed of dust and other contaminants that previously masked the stains.

Do you also offer a curtain takedown and hang-up service?

Yes, we’re happy to help you take down and hang your curtains. This service is not included in our standard offerings and is therefore available only by prior appointment, outside of our regular tour schedule, and is subject to an additional charge.

How much does the curtain take-down and hanging service cost?

The service is offered at a rate of CHF 120 per person per hour. If two staff members are required, the second person will also be charged CHF 120 per hour. In addition, traves exprenses of CHF 120 per hour apply for the second person.

Can the take-down and re-hanging service be performed during the regular pickup or delivery route?

No, for organizational reasons, this service is not available during regular tours and must be arranged separately.

Can I also bring in my curtains to have them shortened?

Yes, we also offer alteration services for curtains. However, this requires that we clean them first.
You’ll also need to provide us with the measurements you want the curtain to have after the alterations, as curtains can shrink during cleaning, so we need to know the final desired length. Please feel free to contact us for a quote.

Can I have my curtains repaired?

We offer a curtain repair service. To help us determine whether a repair is worthwhile or feasible, please feel free to send us photos of the curtains. We may also need to inspect them in person. Once we’ve reviewed the photos, we’ll be happy to provide you with a quote.

The gliders/hooks on my curtains are broken or missing. Can they be repaired?

We’d also be happy to repair the gliders or hooks on your curtains. Please send us some photos so we can provide you with a quote.
